Cerveteri

If you are interested in the Etruscans, their way of life – and death, you must visit the burial site (“necropolis”) at Cerveteri, outside Rome.

Take a nice walk among the graves, note how the interior of the caves at times imitate the construction of the wooden houses they lived in.

The Etruscans were great lovers of Greek art, and the museum in Cerveteri contains a large number of well preserved vases.

If you visit the Etruscan Museum at Villa Giulia in Rome, you may see a poster of the most beautiful Greek vase ever found. If you want to see the original – it is in the museum in Cerveteri.
